Test Apple Watch Ultra 3: ce bijou technologique est-il un achat raisonnable?
Depuis la première Apple Watch Ultra lancée en septembre 2022, le modèle haut-de-gamme sportif de la firme américaine a donné le las sur son créneau. Depuis, les montres intelligentes un peu imposantes au format rectangle un peu massif se sont multipliées. Et Apple a continué à creuser ce sillon avec l'Ultra 2 en septembre 2023 puis, deux ans plus tard, la troisième itération cet automne. Pensée à l'origine pour les explorateurs, les sportifs de haut niveau et les amateurs de sensations fortes, elle s'impose désormais comme la vitrine technologique de la marque, celle où Cupertino teste ses idées les plus audacieuses. Entre l'arrivée du satellite, l'autonomie prolongée et un écran encore plus impressionnant, Apple cherche clairement à asseoir son leadership sur le segment très disputé des montres premium. Mais ce positionnement soulève une vraie question : à qui s'adresse vraiment une montre aussi avancée? et aussi chère ? Pour en avoir le c?ur net, nous l'avons testée pendant quelques semaines. Consulter l'offre Voir plus d'offres Dès qu'on l'aperçoit, la Ultra 3 impose par sa présence : boîtier en titane de 49 mm de haut et 44 mm de large, épaisseur de 12 mm, verre saphir? ce n'est pas une montre discrète. Mais elle demeure raffinée et affirme une chose : elle joue dans la cour des grands. Si vous cherchez un objet élégant tout en étant robuste et visible, vous y trouverez votre bonheur. La finition est impeccable, Apple ne fléchit pas. Le gros avantage : l'écran « nouvelle génération » aux bordures affinées apporte un effet ?premium? tangible. Par rapport à la la Watch Ultra 2, on lit mieux, on perçoit ? encore ? mieux les données sportives, surtout à l'extérieur. Niveau confort : bonne surprise. Malgré la taille, la montre reste assez légère pour un port jour/nuit (moins de 62 g). Sur petit poignet, elle peut paraître imposante ? mais l'usage reste correct. Le bracelet Trail Loop, ou Alpine Loop, donnent un look ?aventure? qui colle au positionnement. Voici là où Apple a mis les gros moyens. L'écran LTPO nouvelle génération brille, vraiment. Test Apple Watch Ultra 3 : la montre ultime ou presque
12 La version Ultra de l'Apple Watch revient pour une troisième génération plus endurante, plus fine et plus puissante, dotée d'une connexion satellite pour ne jamais manquer de réseau. Oui, la montre connectée Apple Watch Ultra 3 profite d'un boîtier plus fin, un écran plus grand, une charge plus rapide et une autonomie plus élevée par rapport à ses devancières. Mais ce n'est pas tout : elle s'offre en supplément la connexion satellite, c'est-à-dire la possibilité d'envoyer des messages ou signaux de détresse en s'appuyant sur la constellation de satellites en orbite basse de Globalstar. Une manière de ne jamais être isolé, ce qui est pratique pour une montre pensée pour l'outdoor. En résulte le modèle le plus abouti d'Apple. L'Apple Watch Ultra 3 est disponible à partir de 899 ?, soit un prix identique à celui de la Watch Ultra 2. 12 mm ! Telle est l'épaisseur de la Watch Ultra 3 d'Apple, certes très commune sur le marché des montres connectées, mais inédite pour la gamme Ultra de la Pomme. Et pour cause, les deux premiers modèles affichaient 14,4 mm. Pas de quoi en faire pour autant un modèle compact, car elle reste XXL (49 x 44 x 12 mm) et lourde (61,6 g). Néanmoins, comme d'habitude à Cupertino, les finitions du boîtier en titane sont soignées, et malgré ses dimensions la montre s'avère élégante et se porte bien. Le bouton Action, particularité de cette gamme, s'intègre parfaitement dans l'esthétique avec sa touche de couleur. La Watch Ultra 3 inclut un écran Oled 1,98 pouce affichant 422 x 514 pixels pour une résolution d'environ 326 ppp. Celui-ci est d'excellente qualité et offre une lisibilité confortable en plein soleil ? avec une luminosité maximale de 3000 cd/m², on n'en attend pas moins ? ou dans l'obscurité. La dalle est en plus dotée de la technologie LTPO 3.0 et peut ainsi faire varier sa fréquence de rafraîchissement pour économiser de la batterie ou afficher les secondes en mode Always-on. Effectivement, les utilisateurs d'Apple Watch devaient jusqu'à présent se contenter de l'heure et des minutes. Les fins connaisseurs de la Pomme noteront par ailleurs que la dalle de la Watch Ultra 3 est légèrement plus grande que celle de la Watch Ultra 2 (1,92 pouce). La nouvelle venue arbore donc des bordures d'écran affinées, ce qui lui octroie une plus vaste surface d'affichage, tout en conservant un boîtier aux dimensions identiques.
